The Awarua Kaumatua Housing Project comprised six single-bedroom prefabricated houses, which were carefully planned to be constructed entirely off-site in Christchurch and then transported to Bluff by road.

Ahead of receiving the units on-location, site preparations involved earthworks, landscaping, and the construction of a new driveway leading to an elevated car park. The houses were positioned on raised timber pile foundations, surrounded by accessible ramps and decks compliant with elderly housing and accessibility standards.

Egmont Dixon provided client representative services for both Development and Project Management roles, which enabled the delivery of project initiation, design, and contractor procurement phases, as well as monitoring construction to ensure successful delivery.
