Client: The Wellington Company

Services: Development Management, Resource Planning & Project Management

Value: $8M

Completion: 2023

Located at 125 Manners Street, Wellington, the Te Piringa project involved the seismic upgrade and conversion of a four-story art-deco building into a mixed-use development featuring 22 apartments and commercial space on the ground floor. To bring the building up to 80% NBS, the seismic upgrade scheme employed ductility cuts and Fibre Reinforced Polymer wrapping to enhance column strength across all levels of the building.

Throughout the project, unforeseen challenges arose during the interior demolition, necessitating agile collaboration and problem-solving between the contractor and various consultants. By fostering an approach that encouraged foresight and proactive assessments of risk, necessary changes to the design/methodology minimised impacts in terms of both costs and the construction programme duration.

With a total construction value of $8 million, Egmont Dixon’s role as the client-side project manager and lead consultant was crucial in navigating these complexities and driving the project to successful completion.
