HAUWAI

Located in Mount Cook, Wellington, Hauwai is a six-storey, mixed-use development consisting of 90+ one and two-bedroom apartments, with ground floor retail provision. The project was completed as a partnership project between The Port Nicholson Block Settlement Trust and local Developer The Wellington Company.

In the overall delivery of this project through Resource Planning, Development and Project Management phases, Egmont Dixon delivered all of the traditional management functions of each role. Additionally, Egmont Dixon were the key interface between the Crown and funders in structuring commercial arrangements that allowed this development to bring together iwi, the private sector and the Crown to deliver an affordable housing response to the needs of the community.

Requiring significant ground works to pile circa 15m below grade, the structural scheme and associated construction methodologies for this build required Egmont Dixon’s continual oversight not just through the construction processes, but also through design and tender processes.

On completion in in 2023, over 200 people happily settled into their new homes, this included a number of first home owners through the Kiwi Build programme.
